Postcards through time

The project

Take a walk in the harbor at the Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam and discover the story of two migrants talking to each other through postcards. You will meet Johan - a mischievous 14 year old boy who plans to move to America in the 1920s, as well as Sarah – a charming girl who just came to present day Rotterdam. As you go and find the right locations, where the postcards match, you view the world how they experience it and see both their highs and lows. For this AR experience download the app “Artivive” and go to the Wilhelminapier to take a stroll around the pier.

For this Augmented Reality experience you need the app "Artivive" and the 6 postcards. The postcards can be found at the foodstand from Hotel New York in Rotterdam. Each card tells a part of the story. The cards are numbered, so make sure to follow the order!

1. Go to App Store for IoS or Play Store for Andriod and install "Artivive".

2. Walk to Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam and find the exact location of the postcards.

3. In Artivive, go to the camera and aim your camera at the postcard. Don't forget to turn on your sound!

4. Enjoy the story!

5. Go to the next location for the next part of the story!

Where is Hotel New York?

Hotel New York is located on the outer edge of the Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam. You can get there by using metro line D and E. The closest metro stop is at Wilhelminaplein.
